Missed Call Text Back for Auto Repair Shops in DFW
Missed call text back is an automation for auto repair shops in the Dallas Fort Worth area. When a call to your shop goes unanswered, the system texts that caller back within seconds from your shop's texting line. They can reply and book while they are still holding the phone, instead of calling the next shop.

The mechanic
What missed call text back is
It is one automation with one job. When your shop line rings and nobody picks up, the call rolls to a texting line we set up for your shop, and a text goes out to that caller automatically.
It fires on the missed call itself, not on a schedule, so the text lands within seconds while your shop is still the one they were thinking about. If somebody at the counter grabs the phone on the fifth ring, nothing fires. It only covers the calls you did not get to.
Delivery time depends on the caller's mobile carrier.
It runs whether the shop is open or closed, and you do not push a button to start it. If the caller replies STOP, the system stops texting them.
What the caller sees
A text that opens with your shop name, seconds after their call went unanswered. A local number, not a 1-800 line, not an app, not a voicemail prompt. They text back the way they text anyone else.
What you see
The conversation in one inbox you can open on your phone or on the computer at the front counter. It stays attached to that customer's record, so whoever picks it up sees the whole history.
The message
What the text actually says
Every shop sounds different, so we write yours with you. What does not change is the shape of it: your shop name up front, a real question, and a way out.
During the day
Sorry we missed you, this is [Your Shop Name]. What is going on with the vehicle? Text me here and I will get you scheduled. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.
After close
This is [Your Shop Name]. We are closed right now and open at 8. Text me what the car is doing and I will get you on the schedule first thing. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.
Saturday afternoon
This is [Your Shop Name]. We are slammed and could not get to the phone. Text me here and I will call you back as soon as I am free. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.
Sample messages. We write your actual wording with you during setup. No coupons, no promotions, and no marketing ride along inside the auto reply. It answers the caller and nothing else.
The question every owner asks first
Will this annoy my customers?
It goes to one person: the one who just called you and got nothing. It is a reply, not a blast.
We do not text your customer list. We do not send promotions through this. Nobody who did not just dial your shop gets a message. When they text back, it lands on your shop's phone and a person at your shop answers, which is the part that makes it feel like your shop instead of a robot.
Every message carries an opt-out, and we prepare and submit your carrier registration and manage the process, which is what gives your texts the best shot at landing instead of getting filtered.
Why it hits shops harder
Why auto shops lose more than most from a missed call
A missed call at a repair shop is not a missed email. The person calling has a car that is not working, and they are going down a list.
The phone rings while everyone is under a hood
Two people and four bays. Your service writer is mid-estimate with a customer standing at the counter. The phone is not going to win that fight, and it should not have to.
Lunch, after hours, and Saturday afternoon
The dead zones are predictable. Between noon and one, after you close, and the back half of Saturday. Those calls are not the ones you can plan around, they are the ones nobody is standing next to the phone for.
The caller does not wait, they call the next shop
You are under a truck with your hands full. You hear it ring. You cannot get to it. By the time you call back at eleven, she already booked somewhere else.
The build
How we set up missed call text back in your shop
Thirty days from signed agreement to live. Most of that is us building and testing. Your part is about an hour at the start and half an hour at the end.
We map how calls actually come into your shop
Who answers, when they cannot, where the line rolls, what happens after close, and what you want the text to sound like. This is the hour we need from you.
We build it in your CRM and connect your shop number
The automation, the inbox, the customer records, and the carrier registration paperwork all get done here. You are not installing anything.
We test it, go live, and tune the wording
We call your shop and let it ring, on purpose, at the times of day that matter. Once it is live we watch the first real conversations and adjust the message if it is landing wrong.
Thirty minutes, and you will know if this fits
We look at your call flow, show you what we would build, and give you the number. If you are already covered, we will say so.

What you need before we start
Short list, and we handle most of it.
- Your existing shop number. The one on your sign and your Google listing. You keep it.
- Carrier registration. Texting from a business number has to be registered with the mobile carriers under a program called A2P 10DLC. We prepare and submit it and manage the process.
- A live privacy policy on your website. The carriers check for it and will not approve the number without one. If you do not have one that meets the carrier requirements, we build it as part of the setup. Ours is at privacy policy if you want to see the shape of it.
- Somebody who will read the replies. The system starts the conversation. A person at your shop finishes it.
Carrier registration is reviewed and approved by the mobile carriers. We prepare and submit it and manage the process.
The honest comparison
Missed call text back vs voicemail vs an answering service
All three cover a missed call. They cover it differently, and one of them is not better at everything.
| Missed call text back | Voicemail | Answering service | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Who responds | Automatic text from your number, then a person at your shop | Nobody, until you play it back | A person who does not work at your shop |
| How fast | Seconds | Whenever you check it | While the caller is still holding, if the service picks up |
| After hours | Runs the same as during the day | Fills up | Depends on the plan you pay for |
| What it costs | Included in the AUTOMATE package at $597 per month, alongside everything else it runs | Nothing extra, it came with your phone line | Priced separately by the service you hire, on top of what you already pay |
| Does the caller engage | They can text back with their thumbs from anywhere | A voicemail only helps once you play it back | They have to want to talk, right then |
| Where it ends up | One inbox, attached to the customer record | A phone or a machine at the shop | A message someone relays to you later |
| Where it wins | Speed, and the caller can answer on their own time | Costs nothing extra | A human can actually talk through a problem, which a text cannot |
An answering service is genuinely better when a caller needs to talk to a person right now. Plenty of shops run one of these alongside the other.

Straight answer
What this does not do
- It does not answer your phone. It texts the people you could not get to. If you want something that actually holds a conversation, that is our Chat AI or Voice AI, priced separately, and we will tell you on the call whether you need it.
- It will not fix a bad review or a slow diagnosis. It gets you the conversation. What happens in the conversation is still your shop.
- It will not help if you are already answering every call. Some shops are. If yours is one of them, we will say so and you can keep your money.

Texting rules
The rules, in plain English
When someone calls you and you miss it, texting them back about that call is fine. That is a conversation they started. Where shops get in trouble is texting people who never asked, or slipping a coupon into an automatic reply.
We set your system up so the auto reply answers the caller and nothing else. If you want to run promotions by text later, that needs a separate signup with the right wording on it, and we will build that with you.
This is general information about how texting rules work, not legal advice.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
What is missed call text back?
Missed call text back is an automation that sends a text message to anyone whose call to your business goes unanswered. The text goes out within seconds from your shop's texting line, so the caller gets a reply while they are still holding the phone. They can text back and book instead of calling the next shop on the list.
How fast does the text go out?
Within seconds of the call ending. The automation fires on the missed call itself, not on a schedule, so the text is landing while your shop is still the one they were dialing. We set the exact delay with you during setup. Most shops keep it as fast as possible.
Do I need a new phone number?
No. Your customers keep dialing the number on your sign and your Google listing, and it still rings your shop the way it always has. We forward the calls you do not answer to a texting line we set up for your shop, and that line sends the text. The message opens with your shop name so the caller knows exactly who it is.
Where do the replies go?
Into one inbox that you can open on your phone or a computer at the front counter. Every conversation stays attached to that customer's record, so anyone at the shop can pick it up and see the whole history. You are not digging through personal cell phones to find out what someone was told.
Is it legal to text someone who called my shop?
Texting back a person who just called you is a reply to their own inquiry, which is the least risky kind of business text. We still do it by the book. We register your number with the carriers under A2P 10DLC, put an opt-out line in the message, and honor a STOP reply immediately. Your site also needs a live privacy policy before carriers will approve the number, and we handle that as part of the build. We are not attorneys, so if your situation is unusual, have one look at it.
What happens if someone replies at 2am?
The reply sits in your inbox until you open it, and the customer gets an automatic message that tells them when you open and what to expect. Nobody is waiting on a silent thread wondering if the shop is out of business. If you want after-hours conversations answered instead of queued, that is our Chat AI add-on, which is priced separately.
How much does missed call text back cost?
Missed call text back is included in our AUTOMATE package, which is $1,497 to set up and $597 per month. That also covers your CRM and lead pipeline, instant email and SMS autoreply, Google Business Profile setup with review requests, a monthly dashboard, and 30 days of tuning after launch. It is month to month with no long-term contract. We do not sell missed call text back on its own.
How long does it take to set up?
Thirty days from signed agreement to go live. Most of that is us building and testing, not you doing homework. We need about an hour of your time at the start to understand how calls come into your shop, and about thirty minutes at the end to walk you through the inbox.
